St Boniface Catholic Church

A Crediton parish that is also home to the National Shrine of St Boniface, welcoming pilgrims from across Europe. We built a warm, photography-led Astro site that serves parishioners and visitors alike.

The Brief

St Boniface Catholic Church has been a Catholic mission in Crediton since 1914 and is part of the Diocese of Plymouth. It is also home to the National Shrine of St Boniface – the Crediton-born saint who led the Anglo-Saxon mission to Germany – which draws pilgrims from partner churches in Germany and the Netherlands. The parish needed a website that could serve two audiences at once: a local community looking for Mass times and news, and visitors planning a pilgrimage to the shrine.

What We Built

We built a fast, image-led Astro site with Hygraph as the headless CMS. Full-width photography of the church interior, the relic and the exterior carries the atmosphere of the place, while key information – Mass times, opening hours and directions – is surfaced early and repeated for quick reference. A dedicated visit section helps groups plan their trip to the shrine, and the CMS lets the parish team publish events, newsletters and announcements without developer involvement. Accessibility was built in from the start so the site works for every visitor.
